Qualifying for Academic Pricing
Academic pricing is available to members of degree granting institutions only.
In order to receive an educational discount, you will need to place the order using a purchase order displaying the University's name, or request that the product be shipped to a University address.
Occasionally you may be requested to supply your college ID to verify your eligibility for the educational discounts.
Conducting research alone does not qualify for an educational discount.

LICENCE TYPES

Personal - node locked license
The package consists of a boxed copy, manual, DVD and license to allow you to run Origin on one computer.
Includes 12 months software maintenance and updates.
While the software is under maintenance an additional 12 month expiring home-use license is provided.
The home-use license may only be used by the registered single user license holder and only one of the installed licenses may be in use at any one time. There is no restriction on ownership of PC or where the software may be used,
Either the 32-bit, the 64-bit or both versions of Origin may be selected on installation.

Group - node locked license.
A Group license allows the licensee to install Origin on one or more computers for use by any user.
Either the 32-bit, the 64-bit or both versions of Origin may be selected on installation.
The package consists of one Origin boxed copy and serial number allowing multiple installs to the licensed number.
Includes 12 months software maintenance and updates.

Concurrent network license.
A Concurrent Network license provides Origin and FLEXlm license management server software so that you can run Origin on any client machine on a network. The license management software monitors the concurrent use of Origin, allowing any number of machines to run Origin up to the licensed limit.
Since this license type requires a network, the Origin installation program lets you choose at time of installation whether to install Origin itself fully on each computer, or use a server-client arrangement. If you choose a full installation on each computer, then users may also borrow a license from the network for a given time period, then detach from the network. The ability to borrow a license from the network allows users to enable Origin on their notebook computer, then detach it from the network for later use.
System administrators can use the license management software to report the number of concurrent licenses available and the number that are currently in use. If anyone has borrowed a license, they will be listed with a special notation. The initial cost per use is higher than standalone or group licenses, but the flexibility of concurrent usage means that often far fewer licenses are required.

ACADEMIC ONLY LICENCES

Academic department, faculty or site license
These licenses are available as expiring or perpetual. Maintenance plans are available.

Academic lab 5 or 10 user expiring node locked license
The Lab license is well suited for academic research labs which have either networked or non-networked computers.
This two year Origin expiring license offers a flexible and very affordable way to deploy Origin on five or ten computers.
The software must be installed on machines owned by the college or university.
After two years the license will expire and can be renewed

Student 12 or 24 month node locked license
The full copy Origin Pro Student license is available for student's personal purchase and use on their personally owned PC at a dramatically reduced price.
Either the 32-bit, the 64-bit or both versions of Origin may be selected on installation.
The software is supplied as an emailed serial number and subsequent application user download only.
Includes 12 months software maintenance and updates.
The Student license is only available to undergraduate and post graduate students of degree granting academic institutions in the UK and Ireland.
If the University are funding the purchase, or the software it to be run on a university owned PC then the student license is not applicable and a regular academic license must be purchased.
Verification of student status is required in order to purchase this type of license, a scanned copy of a student ID card or a letter from Supervisor will suffice. Whatever ID is provided, its important it displays that the ID is currently valid.
The license gives the owner the right to install one copy of the product on one computer only. Each license can only be purchased in our online store & is time-limited to 12 or 24 months. After this time it will expire and a new license must be purchased. Technical Support is limited to installation and license management issues. Software version upgrades are included for the term of the Student License.
Orders must be placed through our web shop (no purchase orders) and a legible copy of the Student ID card must be emailed to info@silverdalescientific.co.uk or faxed to 01296 614228.
Be sure to mention in the comments box at the end of the order how ID has been sent. Do not place your order until ID has been sent.
After receipt of your order, your ID is sent to OriginLab in the States for validation. The license is normally issued within 24 hours and you will then receive an email with your Origin serial number and download link.
